INCANDESCENT LANDSCAPES (click & open)
Working in her Tuscan studio, next door to a Nature Reserve, the artist used the time of tight Italian lockdowns to re-explore landscapes and to experiment with stunning new pigments, layer upon layer, painting on thick rag paper imported, as in the Golden Age, from a paper-making windmill outside of Amsterdam.
From summer 2020 until a few weeks ago, Bierenbroodspot was isolated in her studio – a blessing in disguise. Among the cypresses and olive trees, she created an astonishing series of paintings and drawings, a more abstract vision combining vibrant materials and techniques and shattering new colors.
