‘Traveling, learning, working in Lebanon, where archeology meets you, as it were, is of great beauty. You are almost always in a “white zone”. Communication is on foot, by camel, by mail or, in my case, via the embassy. Our great Baalbeck adventure would last three consecutive years.’
